Cosmic Arcade Tycoon is out now on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2! The game is available in Europe and the Americas, with support for English, German, Japanese, Portuguese, Spanish, and Russian.

This release marks a huge milestone for NebulaNookGames, and I couldn’t be prouder. Bringing the game to a handheld platform and building a partnership with Nintendo along the way has been an invaluable learning experience. It’s helped me refine my workflow and significantly streamline my development pipeline moving forward.

Cosmic Arcade Tycoon feels right at home on handheld devices. It’s ideal for short sessions or gaming on the go, letting you relax, build at your own pace, and enjoy watching everything come together on screen. If you decide to play, I hope you have a great time and I’m always happy to hear feedback or suggestions for future updates.

🔜 Year In Review And The Road Ahead

If you’re reading this, it means more to me than you might realize. Taking the time to follow my work, read these updates, and support what I’m building is something I’m deeply thankful for. NebulaNookGames is still very young, just one year in, but it exists and continues to grow because of people like you. Your interest, encouragement, and feedback genuinely motivate me to keep pushing forward. Everything I’ve learned this past year will carry into my next project, and thanks to your support, I’m excited and optimistic about making 2026 something truly special. This is my passion and that is exactly what I will lean into.

Past Goals

Over the past year, I set out with some ambitious goals for NebulaNookGames. At the core, I wanted to make games I’m proud of and I can genuinely say I’ve achieved that with two original releases so far: Cosmic Arcade Tycoon and Mighty Arms.

I also dreamed of participating in events like Gamescom and connecting with players and other developers, which has helped me grow as both a creator and community member. Throughout the year, I aimed to release multiple small projects to build experience and momentum in my development workflow, and I succeeded in doing just that.

Some goals still remain works in progress, such as earning sustainable income from the studio and making indie development my full‑time job, but the progress I’ve made this year has laid important groundwork for these ambitions.

Shortcomings

While this year saw meaningful growth and creative wins, I didn’t fully meet every goal I set. The most challenging area has been financial stability. Despite the positive reception of my games and growing visibility, making consistent money and turning NebulaNookGames into my main source of income still isn’t a reality yet.

This is a common challenge for young indie studios, where passion and creativity don’t always translate immediately into financial success. Even with titles available and positive feedback from players, finding a sustainable revenue model remains a key focus moving forward.

Successes

Despite the challenges, there were several clear successes in 2025:

  • Created and released games I’m genuinely proud of. Both Cosmic Arcade Tycoon and Mighty Arms represent distinct visions and styles, showing that I can ship diverse concepts to a real audience.

  • Released multiple small projects, including two Steam and Nintendo Switch launches. This gave me vital experience in publishing, community management, and post‑launch support.

  • Participated in games‑focused events and connected with the broader indie community. This helped expand my perspective as a developer and grow NebulaNookGames’ reach. I had the pleasure to have booths at Gamescom, Indie Game Fest, German Dev Days, Dokomi and PlayCON.

  • Released on Steam and Nintendo Switch, which is a major milestone for any indie dev and platforms that continue to bring in new players.

  • Learned a ton. From navigating distribution and platform partnerships to handling feedback and updates, the lessons from this first year are already shaping how I work and think about games.

Learnings

2025 was a profound learning year, from technical skills in game development to business realities of pricing, marketing, and platform support. Some key takeaways include:

  • Releasing on multiple platforms (PC to console ports) requires thoughtful planning but greatly expands potential audience exposure.

  • Community engagement (like Steam reviews, Discord, and direct feedback) is invaluable for understanding what players enjoy and where there’s room to improve.

  • Financial success doesn’t always follow creative success, especially early on, but consistency, quality, and community focus build a stronger foundation over time.

Moving Forward

Looking ahead to 2026, the focus is clear: build on what I’ve learned and keep improving both creatively and commercially. I want to continue shipping polished projects that resonate with players while bridging the gap toward financial sustainability. Key plans for the year include:

  • Developing a larger, long-term project. A game I’m truly passionate about that I can grow, sustain, and refine over time.

  • Exploring new creative ideas with the lessons from this past year firmly in hand.

  • Expanding platform reach, including planning for an Xbox release to reach more players.

  • Securing funding and partnerships to support bigger projects, improve production quality, and ensure sustainable growth.

  • Participating in exhibitions and events to connect with the wider gaming community and showcase upcoming projects.

  • Enhancing marketing and community building, including stronger engagement on social platforms, Discord, and Steam, to grow NebulaNookGames’ presence and bring players closer to the development journey.

  • Continuing to connect with players through updates, feedback channels, and events, ensuring that the games we make truly resonate with the community.

This first year has been both humbling and exhilarating. I’m incredibly grateful for every player, follower, and supporter who has been part of the journey so far, and I’m excited to see where NebulaNookGames goes next.

As I reflect on NebulaNookGames’ first year, I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished, grateful for the support of our players and community, and energized for what’s ahead.

From releasing games I’m passionate about, participating in events, and learning countless lessons, to preparing for bigger projects, new platforms, and expanded marketing efforts in 2026, it’s been an incredible journey.

None of this would be possible without the people who take the time to follow my work, play my games, and share their feedback. Thank you for being part of this adventure, I can’t wait to continue building, creating, and growing with you in the year to come.

Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year filled with joy, fun, and great games!
