In this post, I’ll be going over the recent development highlights and studio updates from October 13th to November 4th, including progress on lotcheck submission, new achievements, match settings, and our PlayCON booth!

🛠️ Development

🎮 Wizzo Pop-Out Achievement & Match Settings

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been focusing on implementing 16 new Steam achievements for Wizzo Pop-Out and adding a match settings option to the lobby. This new feature lets players customize their game experience, from rule tweaks to match preferences, giving them more control over how they play.

  • Achievements: Implementing achievements is always a great excuse to build in some creative logic, it’s like solving a fun little puzzle. The new Wizzo Pop-Out achievements add a lot of flavor and replay value to the game, ranging from weapon mastery goals to casual and funny challenges that reward experimentation and skill alike.

  • Match Settings: The core functionality for Match Settings is now in place! Players can now fine-tune their matches by adjusting key options, such as whether map-specific events are active, match duration, or the points required to win. These customizable settings should make matches feel more personal and dynamic.

  • Lobby & Score Screen Sounds: New bubble and wizard sound effects have been added throughout the lobby and score screen, giving the game a much more lively and polished feel. These little audio touches make navigating menus and wrapping up matches a lot more satisfying.

🚀 Cosmic Arcade Tycoon Lotcheck submission

Cosmic Arcade Tycoon has officially been submitted for Lotcheck! With a bit of luck, everything will pass smoothly, and Nintendo won’t find any issues, meaning a Switch release could be right around the corner.

Before submission, I also added a few Switch-specific features that I’m really proud of. These improvements help the game feel more at home on the console and make the handheld experience even better.

  • Language Recognition: I’ve integrated Cosmic Arcade Tycoon’s existing localization system with the Nintendo Switch language settings. The game now automatically adjusts its language on startup to match the system language, supporting English, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Japanese, and Chinese. It’s a small detail, but it makes the experience feel much more seamless for players around the world.

  • HD Rumble: When placing or removing objects, the Joy-Cons now provide HD Rumble feedback, giving each action a tactile, satisfying feel. It’s a subtle but powerful addition that really enhances the physical connection between the player and the game world.

👊 Mighty Arms New Focus

With the Cosmic Arcade Tycoon port now complete, and after learning the full process of preparing and submitting a game for the Switch, I’m shifting my focus over to the Mighty Arms port. Having gone through the entire workflow once, from setup to Lotcheck submission, I now have a clear roadmap and all the tools I need to move faster and more efficiently.

I’m confident that this next port will go much smoother, and I should be able to get through it fairly quickly. It’s exciting to apply everything I’ve learned from Cosmic Arcade Tycoon to bring Mighty Arms one step closer to the Switch release as well.

🔜 PlayCON Booth Coming Up!

I’m excited to announce that NebulaNookGames will have a booth at PlayCON on November 8th and 9th! I’ll be showcasing the Nintendo Switch ports of Cosmic Arcade Tycoon and Mighty Arms, aswell as providing Steam Deck and PC options, and I can’t wait to see players try them out in person.

This will be my first time presenting at PlayCON, so I’m really looking forward to meeting other developers, chatting with players, and sharing what we’ve been working on. If you’re attending, be sure to stop by the booth, I’d love to say hi and hear your thoughts!

It’s been a whirlwind few weeks, with lots of progress across multiple projects, from polishing achievements and match settings to preparing Cosmic Arcade Tycoon for Switch. Every small improvement, from HD Rumble feedback to language recognition, feels like another step toward making these games truly enjoyable for players on handheld devices.

Next up, I’ll be diving into the Mighty Arms port, and of course, PlayCON is just around the corner! It’s always inspiring to see players try out the games in person, and I can’t wait to share that experience with the community.

Thanks for following along on this journey, your support, feedback, and curiosity keep the momentum going. There’s still plenty to come, and I can’t wait to show you what’s next!
