In this post, I’ll be sharing recent development highlights and studio updates from the period of September 25th to October 13th.

🛠️ Development

🎮 Wizzo Pop-Out Lobby to Game Integration

Development on Wizzo Pop-Out continues to move forward steadily, with new maps, features, and systems coming together. As the netcode developer, I’ve completed essential integrations between the lobby and gameplay systems to ensure smooth and reliable multiplayer experiences.

  • Map expansion: New maps have been added alongside dynamic map events, offering more variety and replayability for players.

  • Lobby integration: The lobby system is now fully connected to gameplay systems, enabling proper skin selection, input device handling, and multiplayer synchronization.

  • Gameplay syncing: Key sequences like the game start cutscene, score screen, and map transitions now sync correctly across all clients.

With these systems functioning cohesively, the next focus areas include bug fixing, potential UI enhancements, and Steam features like achievements and join-via-Steam support.

🚀 Cosmic Arcade Tycoon Port to Nintendo Switch!

I'm excited to share a major milestone for Cosmic Arcade Tycoon, the game now runs at a consistent framerate on the Nintendo Switch! I’ll be sharing a side-by-side comparison of old vs. new visitor models and a gameplay video on Switch to show the progress.

  • Performance optimization: By reducing active skinned mesh renderers, disabling animators when not needed, and lowering visitor vertices, the game now runs smoothly without sacrificing visual quality.

  • UI and balance adjustments: The interface has been scaled up for better readability on smaller screens, and the number of active visitors has been reduced to improve performance (while taking balancing into consideration).

  • Next steps: With the game now stable, focus has shifted to bug fixing and final polish in preparation for Nintendo's lotcheck process, beginning in early November.

👊 Mighty Arms Port to Nintendo Switch!

Development on Mighty Arms required only minimal adjustments to reach stable performance on the Nintendo Switch.

  • Performance tuning: By lowering Unity’s physics time step, the game now runs more smoothly with improved responsiveness.

  • Next steps: This adjustment introduced some issues with physics behavior, so the upcoming focus will be on resolving those to maintain consistent and reliable gameplay.

While there’s no visual material to share just yet, I’m pleased with the current progress and will share more updates as refinement continues.

👷 Xbox Ports, Status Update

Due to ongoing changes on Microsoft's end, Xbox developer kits are currently unavailable, which has temporarily paused porting efforts. As a result, the Xbox versions of Cosmic Arcade Tycoon and Mighty Arms will be delayed until dev kits become available again.

I’ll provide more detailed timelines as soon as we receive clarity from the platform side.

That wraps up this round of development updates! It’s been a productive few weeks across all projects, with exciting progress on multiple fronts, from major performance gains to platform-specific milestones. Thanks for following along, and as always, feel free to join the Discord to share feedback, ask questions, or just hang out with the community. More updates coming soon!
